What is EMCC?

EMCC is the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (website). EMCC is one of the major coaching bodies, alongside ICF and CCE.

The EMCC exists to develop, promote and set the expectation of best practice in mentoring and coaching across Europe and beyond, for the benefit of society. Their vision is to be the “go to” body in mentoring and coaching.

EMCC Coaching Credentials

EMCC provides a variety of accreditations, which are outlined below. Please note that Coacharya’s programs can be used for the EIA Practitioner (Basic program) and EIA Senior Practitioner (Advanced program).

European Individual Accreditation (EIA)

The benchmark quality accreditation for on-going application of competence of individual mentors and coaches, the EIA recognises mentors/coaches who maintain a professional level based on the EMCC Competency Framework. The EIA is valid for five years at which point renewal is required.

There are four levels to the EIA – Foundation, Practitioner, Senior Practitioner and Master.

Other EMCC Coaching Credentials

EMCC provides a variety of accreditations, which are outlined below. Please note that Coacharya’s programs can be used for the EIA Practitioner (Basic program) and EIA Senior Practitioner (Advanced program).

European Individual Accreditation (EIA)

The benchmark quality accreditation for on-going application of competence of individual mentors and coaches, the EIA recognises mentors/coaches who maintain a professional level based on the EMCC Competency Framework. The EIA is valid for five years at which point renewal is required.

European Quality Award (EQA)

The benchmark quality standard for mentoring/coaching training programmes, EQA ensures that successful students meet the research-based competence standards presented in the EMCC Competency Framework. The EQA is valid for five years at which point renewal is required.

European Supervision Individual Accreditation

The ESIA is a Europe-wide recognised award, which demonstrates that an individual practising as a professional mentor/coach supervisor has the appropriate level of knowledge and the ability to apply it effectively in his/her practice.

It is relevant for anyone involved in mentoring/coaching supervision, whether it is just one part of your role or a main function. The advantage of the EMCC’s accreditation process is that you can join and get accredited either as an experienced mentor/coach supervisor or early on in your supervision role.
