In this Masterclass, Awakening Being-Level Leadership Awareness: Ontological Coaching in Organizations, we offer a robust course to help you grow your leadership coaching capacities beyond transactional and into the transformational. Far more than ‘options-clarity-strategy-action’, ontological coaching dives deeper into an individual’s psyche, focusing on who that person is and desires to become. It is about ‘being’ rather than ‘doing.’ 

Organizational life demands that leaders are highly effective at doing, and less attention is paid to who they are being. And yet meaningful, lasting growth occurs when a person becomes aware of, and makes change, at a core level of mind. Ontological coaching endeavors to support leadership growth at the level of being, enabling a person to embody higher levels of existence and effectiveness. As they do, they become more relational, seeing themselves as part of and contributing to a larger environment and ecosystem. This fundamentally changes how they operate within the organization. 

In Awakening Being-Level Leadership Awareness, participants will learn what it takes to create a vibrant coaching space in which being-level awareness supports the emergence of new paradigms of personal capacity and systemic relationship.

Who Is It For?This course is for experienced coaches who are inspired to deepen the awareness of who they are, how they show up in the world, and how they hold space for others. Program Objectives

  • Qualify for ICF PCC, EMCC SP, CCE BCC renewal hours and if applicable to credentials
  • Move beyond the limitations of transactional coaching approaches into the transformational
  • Learn fundamental theory, skills and competencies in transformational (ontological) coaching
  • Understand the unique potentials and challenges of ontological coaching in organizations
  • Gain proficiency at fostering being-level awareness and growth in coaching conversations
  • Connect individual growth to organizational growth; perceiving self as a unique part of a whole
  • Knowledge and skills taught in this course has application beyond organizational coaching.

Learner Outcomes

  • Learn to coach beyond the immediate issue into a more expansive realm of self-awareness
  • Be able to create a coaching space in which people are willing to go deeper with you
  • Become adept and comfortable working at a ‘being level’ with leaders and other clients

Learning Hours

  • 24 synchronous learning hours: 12 weeks x 2 hours
  • 3 asynchronous learning hours: peer coaching (as coach)
  • 6 asynchronous learning hours: readings and other assignments


  • Readings and other assignments: 30 minutes per week
  • Peer Coaching: 1-hour per week (for 6 weeks only: 3 as coach, 3 as client)

Completion Requirements

  • 100% attendance, either in-person attendance or listening to recordings (of missed classes)
  • Peer Coaching: 3 hours as coach; 3 hours as client
