This is why ICF Core Competency 8 focuses on partnering with the client to integrate learning and insight into action, while supporting client autonomy throughout the process.

When the International Coaching Federation updated the Core Competencies in 2025, this was further underscored, with greater emphasis on integrating learning and sustaining progress across the coaching engagement, not just within individual sessions.
