Coaching Experience as a Startup Founder – Sonali Lamba of Brideside

Oct 27, 2017

As part of our continuing Coacharya Coaching Colloquium webinar series, we were pleased to welcome Sonali Lamba of Brideside. Sonali has been working with an executive coach as she and her cofounder have expanded their business.

Some notable takeaways from the session:
  • As a company grows, tensions arise. In this case, this was especially prevalent with the junior staff. Sonali’s coach used the SPEED framework to help resolve this problem. SPEED is a Coacharya model based on Appreciative Inquiry principle, which leads organisational leaders from genuinely co-creating vision leading into collaborative action.
  • Business is about relationships, and that her enhanced willingness to listen moved her from a mentor manager to a coach leader.
  • It’s difficult to make a smooth transition from the vision/dreams/strategy phase into the rough and tough implementation stage. That’s when doubts start occurring. Dreams do run into roadblocks and worse. Sonali advises that entrepreneurs should have realistic goals, and be happy in achieving 80%. Acknowledge yourself for the small successes. Don’t let lapses get you down.
