Global coach training
& leadership development

We work from a simple belief: meaningful development starts with greater awareness of yourself, the people around you, and the systems you are part of. That awareness is cognitive, emotional, and spiritual.

How we got here

We evolved from a shared belief in what coaching could be.

For Ram Ramanathan, coaching grew out of decades of work with leaders and his study of Eastern wisdom traditions, psychology, and human development. For Pranav Ramanathan, his own experience of executive coaching raised important questions about how coaching could serve leaders more effectively.

Together, Ram and Pranav founded Coacharya in 2013 with a clear conviction: developing a coach involves developing the person behind the coaching skills. Awareness, presence, self-understanding, and ethical judgment are essential to the quality of a good coaching relationship.

What began as a small effort in Bengaluru has grown into a global coach-training and leadership-development organization serving coaches, leaders, and companies across cultures and geographies.

Our philosophy

Coaching is a relationship above and beyond a set of applied techniques. The coach brings their skills, awareness, presence, and integrity to the relationship. The quality of coaching depends on all of these.

That is why we begin with the person coaching. A coach’s self-understanding influences how they listen, what they notice, and how they respond to the person in front of them. Our programs make space for that before anything else.

We bring together contemplative traditions and evidence-based behavioral science. Eastern wisdom offers longstanding ways of exploring awareness and human experience. Contemporary psychology provides research and models for understanding behavior, relationships, and development. At Coacharya, these perspectives inform one another and give coaches and leaders a broader understanding of the people they work with and how they work with themselves.

The result is a way of learning that develops both awareness and capability. Coaches and leaders learn coaching skills while developing the presence, discernment, and self-understanding that enable those skills to serve the person in front of them.

Developmental, not transactional

Coaching works best when it goes past short-term solutions. A presenting challenge is often part of a larger pattern. We encourage coaches to explore what sits behind it, including assumptions, relationships, behavior, and context. This helps them work with the issue in its wider context rather than in isolation.

Self-awareness comes first

Strong work with others begins with the self. Coaches need to examine their own patterns, assumptions, emotions, and blind spots. Our programs create space for this inner work, helping coaches notice how their own experience influences what they hear, see, and bring to a coaching conversation.

Eastern wisdom + behavioral science

We bring Eastern wisdom into conversation with evidence-based behavioral science. Together, they bring longstanding ways of working with awareness and experience alongside research and models that help us understand behavior, relationships, and development.

Ethics aren't a checkbox

Ethics show up in how a coach listens, holds confidentiality, works with boundaries, and respects the person in front of them. We treat integrity as part of the practice itself, guiding how coaches use their skills and the responsibility they carry in the relationship.

Measuring coaching ROI

We care about return on investment as much as your stakeholders do. At Coacharya, our clients set meaningful quantitative and qualitative goals with clear success measures for their Hero’s Journey. Progress is tracked by setting a baseline via assessments at the outset, reassessing at the midpoint and end, and incorporating feedback and feed-forward throughout.
