Specific session sequencing and activities may vary slightly between facilitators and cohorts while maintaining the same learning outcomes and ICF requirements.

The curriculum is delivered across 13 live sessions, structured in two halves. The first half focuses on building the foundations of professional coaching through live demonstrations, guided practice, group discussion, and feedback. In the second half, you’ll deepen your coaching skills and learn how to apply them in leadership, your area of expertise, and the broader systems in which you work.

Throughout the program, you’ll have regular opportunities to practice coaching, receive feedback, and build confidence through mentor coaching, peer coaching, self-paced learning, webinars, workshops, and a supportive global community.

Frequently
asked questions

What is coaching according to the International Coaching Federation?

The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” What surprises many aspiring coaches is that this means a coach doesn’t give advice. You help the client clarify their goals, build awareness of what’s getting in the way, and design actions that move them forward. This is the definition Coacharya’s Level 1 program is built around, and it’s the foundation of the ICF Core Competencies you’ll develop.

The International Coaching Federation is the largest and most widely recognized professional body for coaches, with more than 60,000 members and credential-holders across 160 countries. Its Core Competencies and Code of Ethics are the reference point most employers and clients look for. An ICF credential signals that you’ve trained to a recognized global standard, work within the ICF Code of Ethics, and can demonstrate the competencies in real coaching practice.

Technically, no. Coaching isn’t a regulated profession, which means anyone can call themselves a coach. That’s exactly why certification helps you stand out and show credibility, and it’s often what opens doors. An ICF-accredited credential is the global standard, and it’s increasingly expected by employers, internal coaching programs,
and clients who want a coach they can trust.

Natural ability and real experience are a great advantage. What training adds on top is credibility and range. The ICF credential opens doors that talent alone doesn’t, and you’ll get honest, unbiased feedback on how you actually coach, sharpening the skills you have and adding ones you didn’t know you were missing. Even great coaches have blind spots.

ACC (Associate Certified Coach) is the entry credential: 60+ training hours and 100 coaching hours. PCC (Professional Certified Coach) is the professional level: 125+ training hours and 500 coaching hours. MCC (Master Certified Coach) is mastery level: 200+ training hours and 2,500 coaching hours.

Coacharya develops the coaching skills defined by the ICF Core Competencies and goes further, drawing on Eastern philosophy, somatic awareness, and positive psychology alongside coaching science. There’s a strong emphasis on developing the coach’s mindset and self-awareness as much as their technical skill, which is what allows our graduates to coach with real depth.

No. Our cohorts are a mix of people who already coach and people starting fresh. Neither puts you at an advantage or a disadvantage, because everyone is learning a different way of communicating and engaging. Learning from one another, both the fresh perspectives and the existing practice in the room, is one of the most valuable parts of the cohort experience.

Most coaches find their niche during training as they practice with different peers and clients. Sessions 8 and 9 specifically help you bring the competencies into your own context.

Sessions are three hours long and run live on Zoom. They’re interactive by design, and every one is a little different depending on the needs of the cohort and where you are in the program. A session might involve exploring a core competency with your facilitator, watching a live coaching demonstration, practicing in breakout rooms, or working through tools and techniques as a group. Group mentor coaching is built in at specific points, where you receive feedback on your coaching alongside your peers.

Plan for about 3 hours of live class plus 3 hours of self-paced reading and viewing each week. A few weeks in, we’ll encourage you to start coaching outside of class if you aren’t already, ideally 1 to 2 hours a week, so you begin building practice and logging hours toward your ACC. Our free global peer coaching platform gives you people to practice with from the start.

Between live sessions, you’ll have Coacharya’s learning platform, with reading materials, videos, and reflection exercises that deepen what’s covered in class. You can also join our live webinars and coaching discussion forums, meet one-on-one with your mentor coach, and connect with other participants for practice.

Our classes are highly interactive, with live coaching practice, breakout work, and real-time feedback, so attending live is where you’ll gain the most. That said, life happens. If you need to miss a session, you can catch up with the recording. Participants are expected to attend at least 80% of live sessions to complete the program.
A reliable internet connection, a computer with a working camera and audio (built-in is fine), and a quiet space for live sessions. Sessions run on Zoom, and being on camera is expected so we can engage as a full cohort.

From day one. Once your coaching education begins, every qualifying conversation you have with a coaching client outside of class counts toward the 100 hours required for your ACC credential.

Of the 100 hours the ICF requires for your ACC, at least 75 must be paid and up to 25 may be pro bono. Paid hours include direct coaching for payment, barter arrangements like peer-to-peer coaching or coaching in exchange for goods or services, internal coaching at work, and third-party coaching provided through an organization. Pro bono hours are coaching you offer at no cost. Coacharya’s peer coaching platform is built for exactly this: it connects you with coaches worldwide to practice with, log hours, and build confidence while you’re still in the program.

Anywhere from zero to six months, depending on how quickly you complete your coaching hours and pass the ICF Credentialing Exam. Some participants finish everything by the time the program ends. Others take a few months to build hours alongside work or other commitments. Either way, you’re supported the whole path: you keep access to the peer coaching platform during and after the program, plus exam preparation and guidance on submitting your ICF Associate Certified Coach application.
Yes. You’ll receive Coacharya’s Level 1 Certificate on successful completion of the program, whether or not you choose to apply for the ACC credential.
Many of our graduates move directly into Coacharya’s Level 2 (PCC) program to deepen their skills, expand their practice, and work toward the ICF Professional Certified Coach credential
Yes, and many of our graduates do. What you earn depends on your niche, the market you serve, and how much you invest in building a practice. The ACC credential is the typical entry point into paid organizational coaching, giving you access to internal coach roles, credentialed-coach directories, and some organizational contracts. Many larger contracts require PCC, which is the natural next step.
We don’t guarantee clients, but we do help you get found. Graduates are featured on our coaching marketplace, where prospective clients can discover and connect with you, and we reach out to alumni when corporate coaching opportunities come up that match their background and focus.
This program is a strong fit for internal coaches, managers, and leaders who want to bring coaching into how they work. The same ICF Core Competencies and coaching mindset apply, and you’ll develop the ability to listen empathetically, communicate effectively, and support others in ways that hold up in 1:1s, team conversations, and everyday leadership. Many graduates use their training to build a coaching culture inside their organization, either instead of or alongside an external practice.
Yes. Many participants are sponsored by their organizations as part of leadership development, internal coaching initiatives, or manager-as-coach programs. Employers often see the value in coaching skills that strengthen team performance, communication, and culture. We can provide the documentation you need to support your request, including program details, ICF accreditation information, and an invoice made out to your organization. If it helps, we can also share talking points for the conversation with your manager or L&D team.
