Building Creative Confidence
Creativity is a skill that can be learned and mastered with practice. Every one of us is creative. Every one of us uses our creative skills every day, every minute. Unfortunately, we fail to acknowledge our own creativity. Using tools for creativity purposefully and deliberately helps us see our own creative output, and this boosts our creative confidence. Creative confidence is believing that we are creative and using that belief to enhance our lives.
This program is designed to build creative confidence and boost your creativity skills through powerful tools. The program comprises the following modules that enable you to build your toolbox for creative thinking and enhance your ability to apply these tools effectively in your life. Modules include live online classes, reading assignments, and videos and individual/small group exercises, with ample opportunities for collaboration and sharing.
- Module 1 – Tools for Thinking
We think all the time. But we have never learned how to think. Schools and universities instruct learners on a range of subjects and topics, but rarely teach us how to think. In this module, you will be introduced to thinking tools and how to use them so thinking becomes easy, effective, and efficient. - Module 2 – Tools for Ideation
Most of the time, when we generate ideas, we generate only ‘top of the head’ ideas, meaning whatever pops into our mind. However, we soon run out of such ideas and get stuck. In this module, you will discover tools for creating ideas deliberately and purposefully, which will help increase your creative output and spark fresh, out of the box ideas. - Module 3 – Tools for Design Thinking
Design thinking is a mindset and an approach to creative problem-solving. At its core is customer-centricity using empathy, challenging assumptions, and a bias for action, which makes it invaluable for any individual or organization looking for innovative solutions to drive change.
This module will briefly introduce the Design Thinking methodology, and show you how to use tools to practice Design Thinking to create impactful solutions. - Module 4 – Learning Innovation from Nature (Biomimicry)
Nature offers 3.8-billion years’ worth of well-adapted, sustainable ideas and innovations that we can learn from. Biomimicry is the practice of imitating nature’s designs and strategies to address human challenges. For example, the nose cone of the bullet train mimics the shape of the kingfisher’s beak to cut down on the noise generated when it emerges from tunnels. Biomimicry helps us tap into nature’s wisdom for creating novel solutions in fields ranging from engineering and architecture to design, manufacturing, fashion, human resources, leadership, and medicine. This module will introduce the practice of biomimicry and how you can learn from nature to generate new ideas.
